Ian and Trish are both foodies and are proud to bring you their freshly prepared breakfasts. Trish has been cooking professionally for 30 years and is delighted to bring her experience & enthusiasm to the table at Wayside Cottage. Ian is an enthusiastic and talented cook, who claims stove side position occasionally.

You will take with you many memories of your time in the New Forrest, and we hope that our delicious, bountiful breakfast will be one of them. We bake fresh bread every night, which is offered alongside a selection of homemade muffins, ginger or banana bread & hot baked croissants fresh from the oven. We make our own live yoghurt, plain, Greek or mixed with fresh fruit.

Our ingredients are sourced locally, to bring you the freshest produce and to support our local producers. Our big eggs come from Fluffetts farm, our sausages, bacon ham & black pudding specially prepared by our local Burley butcher, vegetables from local farm stores, smoked salmon & kippers from The Dorset Smokery at Hurn Farm.

Fruit & vegetables are from the garden where possible or grown locally and sourced from one of the many New Forrest farm shops.

Every morning there is a bountiful selection of continental breakfast to kick off with followed by a selection from our sweet or savoury menu choices.

Full breakfast is served between the hours of 8.00am to 9.30am on week-days and Saturday & Sunday, from 8.30 – 10.00.

We are very happy to cater to all dietary requirements and prepare specials which may not be on the menu. Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free or have any other special dietary requests and we will be happy to make the necessary arrangements.

With 30 years catering & cheffing experience, Trish is looking forward to offering dinners as an option at Wayside Cottage.

At the moment however, we are expending all our energy on giving you the best B & B experience and at the same time, upgrading the property as and when occupancy levels allows.  Watch this space for information about dinners – they are coming!  If you would like to arrange a dinner for a minimum of 8 guests, please contact us and we can discuss the possibilities.  Dinner is offered on one night as part of the 2 day special event package.  Please contact us for details.

In each room there is a tea tray and in addition, in the guest lounge there is a tea and coffee station, with a selection of Fairtrade teas and a Nespresso machine for our guests to help themselves at any time of the day.  In the afternoon there is often a freshly baked cake or biscuits to complete the experience.
